Tiger Woods revealed that his 16-year-old daughter, Sam Woods, isn’t a big fan of golf, attributing her disinterest to feeling that the sport “took Daddy away from her” when she was younger. In an interview with Carson Daly on Wednesday’s “Today” show, Tiger shared that Sam has a “negative connotation” towards golf because of all the traveling it required him to do when she was a child.

“I had to pack and I had to leave,” Tiger explained. “I had to be gone for weeks. And there’s a negative connotation to it.”

Despite this, Sam remains supportive of her father’s career, as evidenced by her caddying for him at the PNC Championship in December and giving a speech at his Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2022. However, Tiger indicated that Sam has no interest in learning to play golf like him.

“We develop our own relationship, our own rapport that’s outside of golf,” Tiger said of his daughter, whom he shares with Elin Nordegren. “We do things that don’t involve golf.”

In contrast, Tiger has a different relationship with his 15-year-old son, Charlie Woods, whom he has partnered with at the PNC Championship in recent years.

“We do everything golf related,” Tiger said of his bond with Charlie, highlighting the difference in their interests.

Despite experiencing soreness after April’s Masters, Tiger expressed his hopes to compete in all three of the remaining Major Championships in 2024.
