Tiger Woods’ Son Scores 86 in PGA Tour Event Pre-Qualifier

Hobe Sound, BollywoodFever, February 22: The PGA Tour will have to wait a bit longer for Tiger Woods’ 15-year-old son. During a pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic on Thursday, Charlie Woods encountered some challenges, including a daunting 12 on one hole, ultimately finishing with a score of 86.

Despite his efforts, the young golfer failed to secure a birdie at Lost Lake Golf Club, landing him tied for 110th out of 112 players in the competition.

The top five players, along with ties, from each of the four pre-qualifier sites proceed to the Monday qualifier, where four players will earn a coveted spot in the Cognizant Classic at PGA National.

Charlie Woods has notably participated in the 36-hole PNC Championship alongside his father for the past four years, albeit in a scramble format.

His struggles began early with a series of bogeys and a double bogey on the par-5 fifth hole. However, it was on the seventh hole, fraught with water hazards, where his hopes took a significant hit as he recorded a 12.

With a front-nine score of 47, Woods continued to face difficulties, adding two more bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine, ultimately finishing with an 86.

In contrast, the leading score was a commendable 65, with a 67 required to advance.

During the pre-qualifier, Woods played alongside Olin Browne Jr., who notably qualified for the U.S. Open last summer in Los Angeles, achieving a score of 72. Browne Jr. is the son of three-time PGA Tour winner Olin Browne.

Participation in the pre-qualifier necessitated a $250 entry fee for players without tour status.

Reflecting on his own early career, Tiger Woods, at 16, had already secured the first of three consecutive U.S. Junior Amateur titles when he received a sponsor exemption to compete in his inaugural PGA Tour event, the Nissan Open at Riviera. Despite his promise, Woods missed the cut after rounds of 72 and 75.
