While recording her podcast, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum made a phone call to Dean, allowing listeners to overhear her side of the conversation. She informed him of her decision while he was at work, initially downplaying the significance of the filing by describing it as a mere formality before the conversation took a more serious turn.
Tori Spelling explained her decision to file first was influenced by Dean’s choice to share intimate details of their marriage with the Daily Mail, expressing her frustration over his actions. Though listeners could only hear Spelling’s perspective, her tone suggested that McDermott was not pleased to learn she had initiated the divorce proceedings before he could.
Due to California’s laws against recording someone without their consent, only Spelling’s voice was broadcasted during the podcast.
The conversation concluded with Spelling saying, “Love you,” in an unexpected twist.
In her divorce filing, Spelling cites June 17, 2023, as the date of separation. She is seeking spousal support and sole physical custody of their five children.
