Kim Kardashian Defends Menendez Brothers After Prison Visit: “They Are Not Monsters”
Kim Kardashian visits the Menendez brothers in prison, defending them against harsh public backlash after Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Kardashian hopes for reconsideration of their life sentences.
BollywoodFever: Reality star Kim Kardashian has come to the defense of Lyle and Erik Menendez, convicted of killing their parents in 1989, after visiting them in prison. Following the backlash against the brothers from Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Kardashian insisted in an interview with NBC News that “they are not monsters.”

Kardashian, who is training as a lawyer, expressed her sympathy for the brothers’ situation, highlighting their claims of sexual abuse by their father as a critical aspect of their defense. Though convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole, Kardashian believes the punishment was disproportionately harsh given the circumstances.

In an emotional essay, Kardashian argued that had the crime been tried today, the outcome might have been different, citing changing attitudes toward sexual abuse and homophobia. She emphasized their exemplary behavior in prison and the support of 24 family members who have publicly advocated for their release.
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon has announced a court hearing in November, after new evidence emerged supporting Erik Menendez’s claims of abuse. Both brothers have earned college degrees and participated in community service while serving their sentences.
