Simone Biles Shuts Down Critics Over Hair Comments Amid Gold Medal Win at Paris Olympics

Paris, Bollywoodfever: Simone Biles was too busy focusing on winning gold medals to deal with the haters. The 27-year-old gymnast received negative comments about her hair while competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Critics described her hair as “messy,” but Simone had a simple message for them: “Don’t come for me.”
Taking to Instagram, Biles shared a close-up photo of her slicked-back ponytail, defending herself with a straightforward explanation. “[Her hair] WAS DONE but [the] bus has NO AC & it’s like 9,0000 degrees,” she wrote. “Oh & a 45 min ride,” she added, posting a selfie from the bus with her hair pulled back and her eyes closed.
In the photo, Simone wore a black sleeveless shirt, a silver necklace, and AirPods. With minimal makeup consisting of a nude lip and winged eyeliner, she posted a message with a kiss emoji: “Gonna hold your hand when I say this next time you wanna comment on a black girl’s hair. JUST DON’T.”
Despite the hair criticism, Simone triumphed on Tuesday, earning her eighth Olympic medal when Team USA won gold in the Women’s Artistic Team All-Around. The American team scored 171.296, securing gold ahead of Italy (silver) and Brazil (bronze). This victory was seen as a “redemption tour” following the team’s silver win in Tokyo 2020 after taking gold in Rio 2016.
Simone faced significant challenges during the Tokyo Olympics, suffering from “the twisties,” a condition affecting gymnasts’ spatial awareness in mid-air. She withdrew from various events to focus on her mental health, taking a long break from competition.
Returning to the Olympic stage this year, Simone’s resilience and determination shone through. Her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, supported her at the Women’s All-Around, proudly wearing a t-shirt featuring Simone’s last name and various pictures of her.
