Richard Simmons Supports Melissa McCarthy in Barbra Streisand Ozempic Controversy
The ongoing drama between Melissa McCarthy and Barbra Streisand regarding an Ozempic inquiry has taken a new turn, with Richard Simmons weighing in on the matter. In a recent Facebook post, the fitness icon expressed his unwavering support for Melissa while criticizing Barbra for her question about McCarthy’s weight loss and the use of a popular weight loss shot.

“I love Melissa McCarthy… I have seen every one of her movies,” Richard wrote in his post, before addressing Barbra’s comment. “A famous legendary singer, B.S., made a remark about her weight loss…and was asking if she had used a popular weight loss shot. What a question.”

Richard concluded his post by apologizing to Melissa for the remarks and complimenting her appearance, stating, “Melissa you look fabulous!”
The controversy began when Melissa shared a photo on Instagram showing her slimmer figure at a gala with friend and film director Adam Shankman. Barbra’s comment in the post’s comments section, asking about Ozempic, sparked backlash from Melissa’s fans, who found the question offensive.
Despite the uproar, Melissa seemed unfazed when approached by TMZ in Los Angeles, expressing her love for Barbra. The two are known to be close friends, with Melissa even featuring on a duet with Barbra on the singer’s 2016 album, “Encore.”
Barbra later attempted to clarify her comment, stating that she was only trying to praise Melissa’s appearance. With Richard’s recent comments, it appears the issue is far from resolved, and it remains to be seen how it will unfold.
