Adidas teams up with the Solana-based fitness app Stepn to release a limited edition NFT collection, the Stepn x Adidas Genesis Sneakers, based on Adidas’s iconic running shoes.
Shoe and sports apparel leader Adidas is collaborating with the Solana-based fitness application Stepn, which was confirmed by the latter on Monday.
The collaboration is set to launch with a limited edition of 1,000 NFTs titled the Stepn x Adidas Genesis Sneakers collection. These NFTs are inspired by “some of Adidas’s most iconic running silhouettes,” a statement explained.
Stepn outlined the collaboration’s scope: “This genesis collection is the first of a series of co-branded activities between Stepn and Adidas over a one-year partnership that will see further NFT drops and physical, wearable items on the roadmap.”
The initial release of the NFT collection is scheduled for April 17, and will be available through Stepn’s affiliated NFT marketplace, Mooar.
Previously, Adidas has engaged in several web3 and crypto-related partnerships with notable entities like Coinbase, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Bugatti.
Stepn operates a move-to-earn web3 application that incentivizes walking or running by rewarding users with cryptocurrency. This is not Stepn’s first collaboration with a footwear brand, having previously partnered with Asics in 2022.
Stepn’s CEO, Shiti Manghani, commented on the significance of such collaborations, stating, “That such a physical and digital – or ‘phygital’ – partnership between the most widely used lifestyle app and a global brand like Adidas are now a reality indicates the direction lifestyle rewards are going.”
