In a discussion on “Just B with Bethenny Frankel,” Rose recounted how the “Heartless” rapper influenced her to adopt a more provocative style following the start of their high-profile relationship in 2008.
Despite considering herself conservative, the 40-year-old model revealed she was transformed into a symbol of sexuality as she gained fame while with West, 46. “That was my first relationship with a celebrity ever but also in the public eye,” she noted, highlighting West’s fashion-forward mindset and his desire for her to dress in a highly attractive manner.
Rose admitted to being young and easily swayed at the time, succumbing to pressures that didn’t align with her authentic self. The aftermath of their breakup in 2010 left her battling a persistent “sexy” image that she felt boxed into, struggling to diversify her public persona.
She encountered resistance when attempting to deviate from this image, recounting instances where project proposals were laden with expectations for her to embody a seductive archetype she didn’t identify with. “I would have producers saying, ‘We want to do this video for MTV and we want you at the pool, with a bikini on, martini in your hand.’ And I’m like, ‘Ugh, I’m so not her.’”
Looking back, Rose expressed discomfort with the compromises she made during her early fame, feeling trapped by an image constructed largely by external expectations.
Kanye West’s penchant for influencing the fashion choices of the women he dates, from Rose to Kim Kardashian and Bianca Censori, has been a consistent pattern. With Censori, the dynamic appears intensified, with reports of her father, Leo Censori, intending to address West about his daughter’s risqué public appearances.
Leo is reportedly seeking a discussion with West about the implications of such exposure, questioning how West would react if his own daughters were placed in similar situations.
Amid concerns over West’s potential control through fashion, a source close to the couple insists Censori is an enthusiastic participant in these fashion choices, describing her as a performance artist who embraces her role alongside West.
