Amit Shah Directs Strong Response to Terrorism in Jammu Amid Recent Attacks

Union Home Minister Amit Shah calls for stringent measures against terrorism in Jammu, emphasizing security for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and directing additional deployments and comprehensive strategies.

New Delhi, India, Bollywood Fever: Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed top security officials in a high-level meeting on Sunday to deliver a strong response against terrorism and its supporters in Jammu amid a series of recent attacks. He emphasized the need to prevent the resurgence of terrorism in the union territory at all costs.

Shah instructed security agencies to implement the Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan in Jammu. He also called for comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to start on June 29 and end on August 19.

The Home Minister, recently assuming charge for the third time, urged officials to ensure the safety of all pilgrims, routes, and key locations, including Vaishno Devi and Shivkhori, as reported by India Today TV.

Shah ordered additional security forces to be deployed along highways and directed the forces to utilize human intelligence to track active terrorists and their supporters in Jammu and Kashmir. He also mandated the closure of all infiltration points in the Valley used by foreign terrorists.

The high-level meeting included National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Army Chief-designate Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director General of CRPF Anish Dayal Singh, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police RR Swain, and other top security officials.

This meeting followed a recent decision by the Centre to confiscate properties of terrorist supporters in Jammu, similar to measures taken in Kashmir. Additionally, it was decided that cases will be registered against them under serious sections, and a list of terrorist sympathizers will be made. The government is also considering that family members of terrorist supporters would not be given government jobs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held another meeting directing officials to deploy the “full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities” after a series of terror attacks. Recently, terrorists struck four locations in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 9 pilgrims and a CRPF jawan, with 7 security personnel and several others injured. In Kathua district, security forces killed two suspected Pakistani terrorists and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition.
