Britney Spears No Plans to Return to the Music Industry’ and Dismisses New Album Rumors as ‘Trash
I will never return to the music industry
Britney Spears has unequivocally dispelled rumors of her involvement in a new album through a candid Instagram post, adamantly declaring her decision to “never return to the music industry.”

The pop icon’s response appears to be a direct reaction to Wednesday morning reports on Page Six suggesting that Spears might be collaborating with Charli XCX and writer Julia Michaels for a yet-to-be-announced record, marking her first album in nearly a decade. The report indicated that no new material had been recorded yet, stating that the project was in its initial stages.
Refuting the speculation, Spears captioned an Instagram post featuring the Italian Renaissance painting “Salome Bearing the Head of St. John the Baptist,” stating, “They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry.” She clarified that when she writes, it is either for enjoyment or for other artists. Spears revealed that she has written over 20 songs for other artists in the past two years, highlighting her collaborative work.
Spears acknowledged her collaboration with Julia Michaels, citing their past work on “Slumber Party,” a track from her last studio album, “Glory” (2016). She embraced the role of a “ghostwriter,” expressing a preference for working behind the scenes without attaching her name to projects.
Addressing comments regarding her book, “The Woman in Me,” Spears refuted claims that it was released without her approval. The book, a national bestseller, received widespread acclaim, selling over 1.1 million copies in its first week across various formats.
In her Instagram post, Spears responded to a review describing her memoir as a lesson about the media’s impact on young, successful women. She expressed skepticism about the notion that lessons had been learned, referencing current news and affirming her sense of being loved and blessed.
