Bronny James, listed as 6’4″ at USC, measured 6’1.5″ at the NBA Draft Combine, sparking debate but showcasing impressive wingspan and athleticism.
Bronny James was listed as 6-foot-4 on the USC Trojans’ roster during his freshman season in Los Angeles.
However, on Monday, Bronny’s NBA Draft Combine measurements told a different story.
The eldest son of LeBron James measured in at 6’1.5″ when his official measurements were taken in Chicago this week.
Bronny is facing criticism for discrepancies in his previously listed height.
“Bronny James, listed height of 6’4″ on every roster he’s ever played on, measured just a half inch over 6’1″ at the NBA Scouting Combine. 6’1″ guys who averaged 5 points a game in college usually don’t get drafted. I sure do wonnnnder what’s different in Bronny’s case…” one fan wrote on X.
While his height didn’t match previous listings, his other measurements were solid for an incoming NBA guard. He recorded an impressive 6’7.25″ wingspan and 8’2.5″ standing reach.
Height discrepancies are common among athletes, and discovering a player is shorter than listed is an annual occurrence at any draft combine.
The average height for an NBA point guard is around 6-foot-2. Though Bronny measures just below that, his impressive wingspan and athleticism should compensate for the height difference in the league.
Bronny was one of the 78 players invited to the NBA Draft Combine this week.
