Caitlyn Jenner Refuses to Apologize for Comments on O.J. Simpson’s Death, Clarifies Differences in Their Legal Histories
Caitlyn Jenner is standing firm against demands for an apology following her controversial comment about O.J. Simpson’s death. After posting “Good Riddance” on X in reaction to the news of Simpson’s passing, Jenner faced widespread backlash, with critics drawing parallels between her and Simpson due to her involvement in a fatal car accident in 2015.
In her defense, Jenner emphasized the differences between the two cases on Friday. She addressed the comparisons by highlighting the nature of her accident versus the allegations against Simpson. “I know you all think it’s cute to compare a fatal car accident (with multiple vehicles involved) to a BRUTAL MURDER… But Remember… OJ said something to the effect of… I could kill her (Nicole) and get away with it bc I’m #OJSimpson,” she wrote.
Jenner pointed out that unlike Simpson, who was charged with double murder in 1994 and later found liable in a civil trial for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, she was never charged with vehicular manslaughter or any other crime related to the 2015 crash on the Pacific Coast Highway. The district attorney concluded that Jenner was not speeding but braked too late before the collision.
Simpson, who was acquitted in the criminal trial but found liable in civil court, also faced legal consequences for other crimes, being convicted of robbery and kidnapping in 2007 and serving almost nine years in a Nevada state prison.
Simpson passed away on Wednesday after a battle with cancer, sparking varied reactions, including Jenner’s contentious remarks.
