The annual Orange Crush event in Savannah, typically a college spring break celebration, escalated into disorder this year as startling incidents unfolded on Tybee Island. Videos circulating online captured troubling scenes, including piles of trash along the coastline being carried out to sea and a violent brawl among several women on the beach’s boardwalk.

One video in particular highlighted the chaos, showing women engaged in a physical altercation where several ended up topless as their clothing was dislodged during the fight. The incident, which attracted nearly 65,000 views on X.com, featured onlookers lining the boardwalk, cheering on the combatants as punches were thrown.

The altercation saw women trying to cover themselves mid-fight, with one continuing to throw punches despite being exposed. The melee also included a shocking moment where a woman with bright orange hair knocked another to the ground by her hair before being restrained by others.

As the brawl continued, a powerful punch from the woman with orange hair caused another’s head to snap back dramatically, all while the crowd reacted with cheers and shouts. Some fighters, appearing dazed, retreated from the fracas to fix their disheveled appearances.

Toward the conclusion of the nearly two-and-a-half-minute long video, a man was seen running along the boardwalk, waving a woman’s torn hair extensions in the air, adding to the spectacle.

Commenters on the video were taken aback by the intensity of the altercation, with one noting the surprising aggressiveness of the female participants. Another commenter referenced past issues with the event, saying, “I thought they shut Orange Crush down because of this.”

Despite these shocking scenes, local and state officials remarked on the 2024 gatherings, with one stating, “In general, everyone is getting along fairly well,” a comment that seemed at odds with the social media reactions questioning, “When did Tybee Island become such a s*** show?”
