A Maryland man is facing legal action from a Texas couple, Kayelee Gates and Christian Capraro, who rented his home on Airbnb for a two-night stay in August 2022. To their horror, they discovered hidden cameras in the bathroom while staying at the property in Silver Spring.
During their first night, the couple had intimate moments in the shared bathroom and later relaxed in bed, watching a movie. Christian Capraro, who works with smoke detectors professionally, grew suspicious when he noticed two smoke detectors in the room – one above the bed and another in the corner.
Upon investigation, Capraro found a hidden camera concealed within the smoke detector above the bed, and another identical camera in the bathroom. The couple is now seeking justice for this invasion of their privacy through legal channels.
Texas Couple Pursues Legal Action after Disturbing Hidden Camera Incident
After discovering hidden cameras in the bathroom of a Maryland Airbnb they had rented, Kayelee Gates and Christian Capraro immediately left the property and reported the incident to the Montgomery County Police Department.
Gates expressed her emotional turmoil, feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and stripped of her dignity due to the invasion of privacy. The couple’s attorney, Dan Whitney, Jr., likened the situation to opening Pandora’s box, fearing the unknown fate of the recorded footage.
The property’s owner, Christopher J. Goisse, was staying in the house during the incident. When police arrived, they found another hidden camera disguised as a smoke detector in the basement, where another guest had been staying.
Christopher Goisse initially cooperated with the police search but denied access to his twin brother, Larry Goisse, who was also present in the house. Larry later emerged after the police obtained a search warrant, but he refused to provide the code to a locked safe in his room, where multiple hidden cameras were eventually discovered.
Larry Goisse had previously faced legal troubles for drug diversion and health care fraud, being described as having a methamphetamine addiction and mental illness.
The couple now seeks more than $75,000 in damages for the distress caused by the invasion of their privacy. Christopher Goisse has 30 days to respond to the lawsuit, although he had previously denied any wrongdoing, speculating that the guests might have planted the devices.
