The Dallas Cowboys bolster their practice squad with notable additions of Dalvin Cook and Carl Lawson, enhancing depth with veteran talent ahead of the 2024 season.
Bollywood Fever: The Dallas Cowboys’ 53-man roster is always subject to change, and the same goes for their flexible practice squad. As of Wednesday evening, the Cowboys are making significant moves to strengthen their roster depth, with two stellar names set to join their practice squad.
While the practice squad typically consists of young prospects, this year’s squad will feature two seasoned veterans: running back Dalvin Cook and defensive end Carl Lawson.
Cook’s addition is currently unofficial but expected, with the understanding that he may eventually be promoted to the main roster. Lawson, on the other hand, is officially on board and is expected to practice with the team on Wednesday at The Star.

Both Cook and Lawson are 29 years old and bring a wealth of experience to the Cowboys, having established themselves as accomplished players in the NFL. While they currently fall short of the 53-man roster, they view this opportunity as a stepping stone to returning to the spotlight.
In addition to Cook and Lawson, the current practice squad includes:
- Josh Ball, T
- Josh Butler, CB
- Jalen Cropper, WR
- Malik Davis, RB
- Denzel Daxon, DT (International Pathway Program)
- Princeton Fant, TE
- Kemon Hall, CB
- Kelvin Harmon, WR
- Darrius Harris, LB
- Emany Johnson, S
- Brock Mogensen, LB
- Dakoda Shepley, OL
- Nick Vigil, LB
With Lawson now on board, the Cowboys have 14 players on the practice squad. Cook’s arrival will make 15, leaving room for two more players to be added as the ever-evolving roster continues to take shape.
The addition of these veteran talents to the practice squad signals the Cowboys’ commitment to building a deep and versatile roster as they prepare for the 2024 season.
