Eiza González Unveils Heartfelt Truths on Love, Motherhood Dreams, and Battling Stereotypes
Eiza González is sharing insights into her personal life and the complexities of dating, especially as a public figure.
In a candid conversation with InStyle, the 34-year-old actress expressed her current disinterest in dating, emphasizing her deep approach to love and relationships. “I’ve sort of given up,” González admitted, indicating she’s not actively seeking a partner. “I’m not looking anymore.”
“I am telling you: When I’m in love, I fall in love so deep and it takes me so much to get over,” she added. “And the older I get, it’s harder for me because I don’t play around. I go in and I give it all. I am not going to half-ass anything.”
González, known for her role in “3 Body Problem,” also shared her aspirations of motherhood, despite her current single status. She highlighted the unique challenges of dating within the acting community, especially concerning career dynamics and financial disparities between genders. “If you’ve not gone to therapy,” she stated, “I’m not dating you,” underlining her standards and expectations in relationships.
Her past relationships include high-profile names such as Jason Momoa, Ben Simmons, Josh Duhamel, Liam Hemsworth, and Timothée Chalamet, showing her love life has often been in the spotlight.
Furthermore, González discussed her frustration with the “sexy” label often assigned to her in Hollywood, criticizing the narrow and sexualized portrayal of Latin women. “I just think it’s an overly sexualized idea of a Latin woman,” González said. “It’s so disappointing and it’s so pathetic.”
She reflected on the industry’s biases and her own struggles with identity, pondering drastic changes to alter how she’s perceived. “This is the biggest challenge of my career,” González remarked, voicing her discontent with being typecast based on her appearance and ethnicity. “None of my white friends who were in the industry were getting that. It was just me,” González said.
“I remember being [told for] so many projects, ‘She’s too pretty for the role. She’s too hot for the role,'” she continued. “Then I’d just be like, ‘What is Margot Robbie? She’s the hottest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life.'”
“I had an identity crisis for a very long time,” González added. “I was like, ‘Do I shave my head? Do I make myself less attractive? Do I make myself more attractive? Do I not dress super-hot or do I dress super-hot or do I cover myself all the time?'”
