Elon Musk and Mark Cuban Opt Out of Super Bowl LVIII Betting, Advocating Against Sports Wagering

Elon Musk and Mark Cuban, though not exactly bosom buddies, are singing from the same hymn sheet when it comes to Super Bowl betting—they’re giving it a hard pass.

Elon explained to TMZ that with plenty of other risky ventures on the horizon, he’s not inclined to take chances with sports betting. After all, he did make a hefty $44 billion gamble on X (formerly known as Twitter).

As for Mark, he mentioned that his ownership stake in the Dallas Mavericks prevents him from betting on NBA games, and he’d rather steer clear of any potential complications, uncertain if the same restriction applies to the NFL. It’s a prudent move.

While both billionaires acknowledge the fun in betting for those who can afford the risk, they won’t be participating come Sunday.

Mark won’t be attending the Super Bowl but plans to watch and cheer for the Chiefs—a nod to his previous admiration for the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Their alignment on this matter is noteworthy given their recent public feud, where Elon branded Mark a “racist” for his support of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, even challenging him to a MMA fight.

Mark defended his stance on DEI, dubbing Elon’s platform X as his “little echo chamber,” a biting retort considering Elon’s emphasis on free speech.

In the end, both Elon and Mark are opting to keep their wallets closed this Super Bowl Sunday—a decision that might not sit well with bookies, especially with a record-setting 68 million Americans expected to wager on the game.
