Gavin Rossdale Expresses ‘Shame’ for Providing Children with a ‘Broken Home’ After Divorce from Gwen Stefani
Gavin Rossdale has recently shared his thoughts on his separation from Gwen Stefani, particularly focusing on the impact on their three children.
Speaking on the Amy & T.J. podcast hosted by Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, the Bush frontman delved into the feelings of “shame” that have accompanied the aftermath of their 2015 divorce.
“I never thought I’d ever get divorced. So there’s a simple shame in my life,” Rossdale shared, highlighting the emotional toll of creating a “broken home” for his kids.
Rossdale and Stefani, who first crossed paths in 1995 and wed in 2002, co-parent sons Kingston (17), Zuma (15), and Apollo (10). Rossdale is also the father to 35-year-old Daisy Lowe, his daughter with Pearl Lowe from a prior relationship. The end of Rossdale and Stefani’s marriage came amid rumors of infidelity.
Expressing concern for his children’s well-being, Rossdale reflected on his desire to have prevented the family division. “I feel bad for my kids, that’s it,” he lamented, acknowledging the challenges of growing up in a divided household, a reality he himself experienced.
Although Stefani’s name was not directly mentioned, Rossdale hinted at a diminished connection with her, expressing a wish for a stronger bond, especially for their children’s sake. “The biggest thing would be when you see the kids that sometimes there’s a loss. It’d be nice if there was more of a connection with the person who made them with me,” he disclosed.
Since their split, Stefani has remarried, exchanging vows with Blake Shelton in 2021. Rossdale, meanwhile, takes pride in his role as a father, emphasizing his consistency and dedication amidst the complexities of navigating a high-profile separation.
Striving to remain positive about Stefani in public discussions, Rossdale stressed the importance of maintaining respect for the mother of his children. “I’m handcuffed because I would never want to overly say anything negative about their mom. That’s just not right.”
The musician has also found a new relationship, recently making his romance with musician Xhoana Instagram official, and she has met his children with Stefani. Reflecting on his journey, Rossdale finds solace in acceptance and the belief in life’s unfolding path, holding no regrets about the past and focusing on co-parenting harmoniously.
