Haseeb Majid receives life sentence for the brutal murder of Mohammed Duraab Khan in Nottingham. Majid used a zombie knife in the horrific attack at a Texaco garage.
BollywoodFever: A jealous man, Haseeb Majid, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the savage murder of 26-year-old Mohammed Duraab Khan in Nottingham.
The attack, carried out with a 12-inch zombie knife, took place at a Texaco garage on Meadow Lane on January 31, 2024.
Majid, 22, stabbed Mr. Khan 16 times, leaving him with fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Mr. Khan tragically died at the scene.
The attack, which was captured on CCTV, followed tensions between the two men, stemming from Majid’s jealousy over his ex-girlfriend reconnecting with Mr. Khan.
During the three-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, jurors were told that there was “bad blood” between the pair, which culminated in the deadly assault.
On the day of the attack, Mr. Khan and a friend had stopped at the petrol station after dropping off relatives at Gatwick Airport.
As Mr. Khan sat in the passenger seat of his car, Majid, disguised in a black coat and ski mask, ambushed him, yanking open the driver’s door and making stabbing motions.
Mr. Khan tried to escape, but Majid chased him and stabbed him repeatedly in front of shocked witnesses.
The deepest wound was 22cm (8 inches) deep, and despite efforts from members of the public and emergency services, Mr. Khan died shortly after.
Majid was tracked down the next morning after police identified the Ford Focus he was traveling in, which had followed Mr. Khan’s vehicle before the attack.
He was arrested and later convicted of murder after claiming self-defense. Majid was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 26 years.
Mr. Khan’s grieving family paid tribute to the “remarkable young man,” stating, “His brutal murder has taken away a brother, a friend, a nephew, and a son from those who loved him unconditionally.
Detective Inspector Kaz Smithson of Nottinghamshire Police described the killing as “savage and completely senseless” and said that Majid will now have to live with the consequences of his actions as he begins his life sentence.
