James Spader Returns as Ultron in Marvel’s Upcoming Vision Series
James Spader is set to reprise his role as Ultron in Marvel’s new Vision series, following up on WandaVision. The series, led by Terry Matalas, continues the saga with Vision’s quest for a new purpose.
Bollywood Fever: James Spader is making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his iconic role as the voice of the villainous Ultron.
The Emmy-winning actor will lend his voice once again in Marvel Studios’ upcoming untitled Vision series, a follow-up to the critically acclaimed WandaVision. Spader first brought Ultron to life in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Paul Bettany will also return as Vision, the android who famously fell in love with the Scarlet Witch before being destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
In WandaVision, Vision was brought back through a mix of magic and grief, appearing both as his original self and a rebuilt, ghostly white android.
The new series, informally referred to as Vision Quest, is being helmed by Terry Matalas, the celebrated showrunner of Star Trek: Picard.
The story will explore White Vision’s search for a new purpose in life, adding depth to the character’s evolving journey.
Ultron, as Marvel fans will recall, was created by Tony Stark (Iron Man) as a defense program that ultimately turned against humanity.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, he created Vision as a means to further his destructive plans, only for Vision to rebel and help the Avengers defeat his creator.
Although Ultron was seemingly destroyed at the end of the film, his return in the upcoming series raises questions about his role and his relationship with Vision.
This new series is intended to be the third installment in a trilogy that began with WandaVision and will continue with Agatha All Along, set to debut in September on Disney+. Production for the Vision series is expected to begin in England in early 2025.
James Spader, whose career spans both film and television, is known for his roles in movies like Sex, Lies, and Videotape and Pretty in Pink.
He earned acclaim on the small screen with his award-winning role in Boston Legal and continued to captivate audiences with his 10-season run on NBC’s The Blacklist, which aired from 2013 to 2023. His return to the MCU as Ultron is sure to excite fans eager to see how his character’s story will unfold.
