Blake Lively talks about the humorous birthday cake she baked for her son while addressing rumors and criticism surrounding her latest film, It Ends With Us. Discover how the star balances motherhood with her acting career.
Bollywood Fever: Blake Lively isn’t just any mom—she’s a mom with a great sense of humor. The It Ends With Us actress, who shares four children with husband Ryan Reynolds—James (9), Inez (7), Betty (4), and Olin, born in 2023—recently opened up about the Boob birthday cake she made for her youngest son.
During an appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball and Friends show, Lively revealed that her cakes often come with a humorous twist.
For her son Olin’s special day, she decided to bake something unforgettable. “My birthday cakes always have a little bit of a sense of humor, for my baby I just did a giant set of t–ts,” Lively shared, adding with a laugh, “Which I feel will haunt him for life.”
Lively stood by her choice, noting that at such a young age, her son couldn’t exactly express his preferences. “But what do they want at 1?” she joked. “Like, he can’t declare what he wants, so boobs.”
This lighthearted moment comes amid some controversy surrounding Lively’s latest project, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It Ends With Us.
Rumors of tension between Lively and the film’s director and co-star, Justin Baldoni, have been swirling after fans noticed that neither Lively nor other cast members were following Baldoni on social media.
Additionally, Baldoni has been handling press for the film separately from Lively, fueling further speculation.
Lively has also faced criticism for her seemingly playful approach to promoting a film that deals with serious issues, including domestic violence.
In response to the growing discussions, co-star Brandon Sklenar stepped in to defend the cast and crew.
“Vilifying the women who put so much of their heart and soul into making this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counterproductive and detracts from what this film is about,” Sklenar wrote on Instagram on August 20.
He cautioned against focusing on “what may or may not have happened behind the scenes” and urged fans to consider the film’s important themes.
Despite the ongoing drama, those close to Lively have praised her abilities as a mother. Colleen Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us, admired Lively’s devotion to her children. “She could be on a phone call with, it doesn’t matter, the freaking Pope,” Hoover shared in the September issue of Vogue, “and if her kid walks into the room, she’s gonna give one hundred percent of her attention to her children. As a mom, I just really fell in love with that part of her.”
Paul Feig, who directed Lively in A Simple Favor, echoed similar sentiments, calling her “one of the best moms I’ve ever seen.” Lively’s dedication to both her family and her work continues to earn her admiration, even as she navigates the challenges of life in the spotlight.
