Jimmy Garoppolo Faces 2-Game Suspension for Violating NFL’s PED Policy

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo received unfortunate news as the NFL announced a two-game suspension for violating its Performance Enhancing Substances Policy.

According to reports from Adam Schefter, the league handed down the suspension on Friday morning, and Garoppolo is not expected to appeal. Consequently, he will be sidelined from game action until Week 3 of the 2024 season.

Schefter detailed that the suspension resulted from Garoppolo’s use of a prescribed medication without a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption.

Additionally, the quarterback faces the likelihood of being cut by the Las Vegas Raiders next month following the league’s disciplinary action.

If this marks the end of Garoppolo’s tenure in Sin City, it would conclude a challenging stint. Despite signing a significant deal in free agency with the team in March, he played in just seven games and struggled to produce notable stats, throwing for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

While Garoppolo’s future remains uncertain, given the demand for quarterbacks across the league, it’s probable he will find a new opportunity, albeit for a reduced 15-game season in 2024.
