Johnny Depp will be honored at the Rome Film Festival for his career achievements, with his directorial effort “Modì,” a biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, premiering in Italy.
BollywoodFever: Johnny Depp is set to receive a prestigious career award at the upcoming Rome Film Festival, where his latest directorial effort, Modì, will make its Italian debut.
The biopic, centered on the life of famed Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, will screen in the festival’s non-competitive Grand Public section after its premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Starring Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio as Modigliani, Modì follows the artist through 72 pivotal hours during World War I in Paris, which ultimately shaped his reputation as a groundbreaking figure in modern art.
The film’s cast also features Al Pacino as art collector Maurice Gangnat, alongside Antonia Desplat, Stephen Graham, Bruno Gouery, Ryan McParland, and Sally Phillips.

Produced by Barry Navidi Prods. and IN.2 Films, Modì marks Depp’s return to directing after a 26-year hiatus following his 1997 debut The Brave.
This film represents a significant moment in Depp’s career, being one of his major projects since his 2022 defamation trial victory against ex-wife Amber Heard.
Modì will be distributed in Italy by Be Water in collaboration with Maestro Distribution and Medusa Film, adding to the festival’s highly anticipated lineup.
The 19th Rome Film Festival runs from October 16-27, 2024, offering Depp another opportunity to celebrate his storied career.
