Justin Hakuta, Ali Wong’s Former Spouse Seeks Joint Custody of Their Daughters

Ali Wong’s estranged husband, Justin Hakuta, has filed for joint custody of their two daughters.

According to recent court documents, Hakuta, 41, has requested joint legal and physical custody of Mari, 8, and Nikki, 6. The filing indicates that other divorce-related matters will be resolved through mediation.

Wong, also 41, has not publicly commented on Hakuta’s legal action.

In December 2023, it was confirmed that Wong had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking shared custody of their daughters. The comedian explained in her petition that she and Hakuta are currently undergoing mediation to address spousal support and asset division.

Wong and Hakuta announced their separation in April 2022.

Reflecting on the divorce announcement, Wong shared with The Hollywood Reporter in February 2023 the challenges she faced, particularly her mother’s reaction. Despite her mother’s difficulty in accepting the situation, Wong acknowledged the complexities and emotional toll of navigating their family dynamics.

Despite their separation, Wong and Hakuta have maintained an amicable relationship, with Hakuta continuing to manage Wong’s comedy tours. He was also acknowledged in Wong’s Golden Globes acceptance speech last month, where she expressed gratitude for his love and support as she juggles her career and motherhood.

Since their split, Wong has been romantically linked with Bill Hader, with whom she briefly dated in 2022 before rekindling their relationship a year later.
