Lauri Peterson’s Son, Joshua-Michael Waring, Passes Away from Addiction, Sister Shares Heartfelt Tribute
Joshua-Michael Waring, son of Lauri Peterson, passed away due to the devastating effects of addiction, as shared by his sister Ashley Zarlin. “It’s a disease that distorts and destroys, leaving behind shattered dreams and broken hearts,” Zarlin expressed in an Instagram post on Saturday, April 6.
Earlier that day, Peterson, a former star of “Real Housewives of Orange County,” had announced the tragic news of her son’s death on March 31 at the age of 35. Zarlin reflected on the brilliance and potential of her brother, lamenting the lost future they could have shared. “He was brilliant and had limitless potential, but addiction veered him off course,” she said, mourning the missed chances for shared adult experiences and unfulfilled dreams.
Zarlin honored her mother’s relentless support for Waring, noting Peterson’s unwavering belief in his recovery. She expressed a profound wish for a different ending and regret over not being able to do more to save her brother. Waring leaves behind his parents, Lauri and George Peterson, his sisters, Ashley and Sophie, and his daughter, Kennady, whom Lauri adopted in 2015 to provide stability amid Waring’s battle with alcoholism.
In her tribute, Zarlin also acknowledged the broader issue of systemic failure in addressing addiction, advocating for healthcare reform that emphasizes compassion and support. “Our healthcare system is riddled with shortcomings and limitations and failed him time and again,” she remarked, calling for a change to prevent further tragedies.
Zarlin’s message ended with a poignant goodbye to her brother, hoping he has found the serenity he sought. “Josh, I hope that you’ve finally found the peace you’ve been looking for. You’re no longer in pain, you can rest. I love you.”
