Linton Weirich, jailed for burglary, allegedly filmed having sex with prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu at HMP Wandsworth. Abreu faces charges of misconduct in public office.
Bollywood Fever: Linton Weirich, an inmate at HMP Wandsworth, has been identified as the prisoner allegedly filmed having sex with former prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu, MailOnline revealed.
Weirich was sentenced in April for burglary after stealing £65,000 worth of goods from a safe in a luxury Kensington flat in March 2022. The stolen items included jewelry, belts, handbags, a laptop, and a suitcase. On June 7, Weirich, 36, from west London, received a four-and-a-half-year sentence at Kingston Crown Court for burglary dwelling and theft.
Footage allegedly capturing Weirich and De Sousa Abreu in a sexual act was recorded on a mobile phone. Weirich’s Instagram page features photographs showing an arm tattoo identical to the one in the video. Compounding the scandal, Weirich has a partner who is seven months pregnant. A source close to her stated, “This is the last thing she needs in her condition, it’s extremely upsetting. This stupid video has affected her health, she was hospitalised at the weekend through stress. She fears it will bring on premature labour.”
Weirich has a history of legal issues, including a guilty plea for dangerous driving on the M6 and an assault on a police officer in 2018.
De Sousa Abreu, 30, who is married, was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Saturday while attempting to fly to Madrid. She appeared in court charged with misconduct in public office for “engaging in a sexual act with a prisoner in a prison cell.”
During her appearance at Uxbridge Magistrates Court, De Sousa Abreu, wearing a grey tracksuit, confirmed her name, date of birth, and address. Prosecutor Niamh McDonagh reported that De Sousa Abreu was apprehended with a Portuguese passport, which was seized. De Sousa Abreu is a Portuguese national.
Defending, Gayathri Yogarajah stated that De Sousa Abreu had informed HMP Wandsworth of her travel plans, which were communicated to Scotland Yard. De Sousa Abreu was granted conditional bail and will appear for a plea and case management hearing on July 29 at Isleworth Crown Court. Conditions of her bail include remaining at her southwest London address, surrendering her passport and Portuguese identity card, and refraining from applying for or possessing international travel documents. She is also prohibited from entering any UK port and must be electronically monitored between 9pm and 7am.
