McCanna Anthony Sinise, Son of Gary Sinise Dies at 33

Bollywoodfever, February 27: McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise, the son of renowned actor Gary Sinise and a talented musician, passed away on January 5th after a valiant struggle with Chordoma, a rare form of spinal cancer. He was 33 years old.

Gary Sinise, known for his role in CSI: NY, announced the sorrowful news on his Instagram and through a touching tribute on his foundation’s website.

He expressed his profound grief, stating, “The week the album Resurrection & Revival was finalized, we lost Mac to his cancer battle.

He passed away on January 5, 2024, at 3:25 pm and was buried on January 23rd.

Our family is navigating through this immense loss as best we can. The pain of losing a child is unimaginable, and my heart aches for anyone who has endured a similar fate. … I am incredibly honored and proud to have been his father.”

Mac was diagnosed with Chordoma in August 2018, shortly after the diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer in Gary’s wife, Moira.

While Moira eventually entered remission and has remained cancer-free, Mac’s condition progressively worsened despite numerous surgeries.

Gary shared how Mac’s battle with cancer increasingly limited him, but his passion for music remained undiminished.

Mac, who had been musically inclined since childhood, pursued his love for music at the USC Thornton School of Music, focusing on songwriting and composition.

He was also a skilled pianist and harmonica player, occasionally performing with Gary’s band, the Lt. Dan Band.

Despite cancer paralyzing him from the chest down, Mac continued to create music.

He worked on an original piece, “Arctic Circles,” with the assistance of fellow musicians and contributed to a recording of “Shenandoah.”

This collaboration led to the creation of an album, Resurrection & Revival, symbolizing the renewal of life and completion of unfinished work, featuring contributions from the Lt. Dan Band.

Gary Sinise concluded his tribute by thanking Mac for the joy and accomplishments he brought into their lives, stating, “Thank you, Mac. You achieved remarkable things in your final months. Resurrection & Revival will endure, as will your memory, in our hearts forever. You were a blessing as a son, brother, and friend, and you will be dearly missed and loved eternally.”

The album Mac Sinise: Resurrection and Revival is set to be released soon.
