Louisa Jacobson, daughter of Meryl Streep, proudly comes out as a lesbian and celebrates with her partner Anna Blundell. The announcement coincides with Streep’s 75th birthday weekend.

California, Bollywood Fever: Louisa Jacobson Gummer, the 33-year-old daughter of acclaimed actress Meryl Streep and estranged husband Don Gummer, has publicly come out as a lesbian. The talented actress, who stars in the HBO period drama series The Gilded Age, shared her joy by posting photos with her producer partner, Anna Blundell, on Instagram. Louisa captioned the images, “blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb,” along with heart and rainbow flag emojis.

The announcement came during Streep’s 75th birthday weekend on June 22. One follower commented, “Coming out at your mom’s birthday is so iconic!” highlighting the significant timing of Louisa’s revelation.

Louisa, a Yale School of Drama graduate with an MFA in acting, received warm congratulations from fans and peers alike. Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose commented, “live queen,” while others expressed their support in the comments.

Previously, in 2022, Louisa was dating actor Jonathan Higginbotham, whom she met at Yale. She told Vanity Fair about the benefits and challenges of dating a fellow actor, noting the shared understanding of their unique career paths.

Louisa’s parents, Meryl Streep and Don Gummer, announced their separation in October after 45 years of marriage. They revealed they had been living separate lives for over six years. Despite their separation, the pair emphasized their ongoing care for each other.

The couple, who married in 1978, share four children: Henry, 43, Mamie, 40, Grace, 37, and Louisa. Their marriage began shortly after the tragic death of Meryl’s boyfriend, John Cazale, in 1978. Don Gummer, a friend of Meryl’s brother, helped her through the difficult time, leading to their eventual romance.

Throughout their marriage, Meryl and Don welcomed four children and five grandchildren. Meryl has previously spoken about the keys to their long-lasting relationship, citing “goodwill and willingness to bend—and to shut up every once in a while.”

Professionally, Louisa uses the surname Jacobson to avoid confusion with another actress named Louisa Gummer, as required by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).

Louisa made her professional acting debut in 2017 as Mary Dalton in Yale Repertory Theatre’s production of Native Son. She continued to shine on stage, including a role as Juliet in The Old Globe’s production of Romeo and Juliet in 2019. Her television debut came in 2022 with The Gilded Age, created by Julian Fellowes, earning her and her castmates a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Louisa’s career continues to ascend as she is set to make her big-screen debut in Celine Song’s A24 romantic comedy Materialists, alongside stars like Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans.

Her partner, Anna Blundell, has produced several high-fashion campaigns, including for Tory Burch, Chloe, and most recently, Anne Hathaway for Versace. Together, Louisa and Anna are entering a new chapter, celebrating love and embracing their true selves.
