New Dodgers Deal Guarantees $10 Million for Kershaw, with Potential Earnings Reaching $37.5 Million over 2 Years
Under his new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw has the potential to earn up to $37.5 million over two seasons, contingent upon the number of starts he makes post-shoulder surgery.
Announced on Friday, the agreement guarantees the three-time NL Cy Young Award winner $10 million. He stands to earn up to $12.5 million this year and $25 million in 2025.
In the current season, Kershaw will receive a $5 million salary and can accrue $7.5 million in performance bonuses based on starts or relief appearances lasting three innings or more.
The breakdown of bonuses includes $1 million for six starts, $1.5 million each for seven, eight, and nine starts, and $2 million for 10 starts, as outlined in terms obtained by The Associated Press.
