'Real Housewives of New York City' Welcomes Racquel Chevremont, Marking Historic Milestone for LGBTQ Representation

Former model and LGBTQ art curator Racquel Chevremont joins the cast of ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ Season 15, marking a significant milestone with two queer Housewives. Discover more about her and the upcoming season.

Bollywood Fever: The Real Housewives of New York City is expanding its horizons with the addition of former model and LGBTQ art curator Racquel Chevremont to its season 15 cast, Bravo announced on June 27.

The 53-year-old’s inclusion marks a significant milestone: it’s the first time any Real Housewives franchise has featured two queer Housewives. Costar Jenna Lyons also identifies as queer.

“My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there,” Chevremont, who co-founded The Josie Club, a Black, queer, women-supported social impact group, told GLAAD. “What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise.”

Chevremont, who hails from Brooklyn, emphasized the importance of representation in today’s world climate. “It’s important for not only our community to see themselves represented, but also for the world to get to know a queer family in a more intimate way and show that we all have more similarities than not,” she said. “That queer women can be successful, beautiful, and in loving relationships raising children too. That this world exists.”

Chevremont praised the series for its bold decision to embrace more diversity among its cast. “I wasn’t sure if they were going to want two queer women on a franchise that has historically been about married heterosexual women,” she admitted. “I think it was a bold decision and honestly a more authentic representation of NYC.”

Chevremont and Lyons will be joined by returning Housewives Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield for the upcoming season.

Chevremont has made a significant impact in the art world, working with renowned artists and collectors over her 20-year career. She has curated projects and sets for TV series like And Just Like That…, Severance, Empire, and Law & Order: Organized Crime. Before her art career, Chevremont modeled for international brands including Benetton, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Fila, L’Oréal, and Nivea.

In addition to Chevremont, legendary designer Rebecca Minkoff has also been filming with the RHONY cast, as confirmed by E! News in April. However, Bravo has yet to confirm if she will be a full-time Housewife.

With Chevremont’s addition, the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of New York City promises to offer a richer and more diverse representation of modern New York life, shining a light on the multifaceted experiences of its residents.
