Following her recent appearance on television, fans speculated whether the “Stranger Things” star was exchanging her native British accent for an American tone.
Addressing the conversation with TikToker Max Balegde on March 8, the 20-year-old explained her linguistic versatility. “I want to clarify something about my accent,” she said. “Being an actor and growing up in America, as well as in the spotlight, I’ve learned to adapt. I naturally pick up on the accents of those around me.”
Brown pointed out that her accent shifts depending on her company, sounding more American when she’s with her fiancé Jake Bongiovi or engaging with American personalities like Jimmy Fallon. However, her British roots emerge strongly when she’s in the UK.
“It’s not something I do on purpose,” she asserted. “I understand if it bothers anyone, but I’m doing my best here.”
Max supported her, stating, “She’s Millie Bobby Brown. She can speak however she pleases.”
