Rohit Sharma Praises India’s Aggression and Team Effort After 2-0 Test Series Sweep Against Bangladesh

India captain Rohit Sharma credits aggressive strategy and teamwork for their 2-0 Test series sweep against Bangladesh, securing top position in the WTC rankings.

BollywoodFever: India captain Rohit Sharma commended his team for embracing an aggressive approach to secure a 2-0 series sweep against Bangladesh in the second Test at Kanpur, despite the challenges posed by rain that washed out two days of play. The win strengthened India’s lead at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings.

After dismissing Bangladesh for 233 on day four, Rohit took calculated risks by launching his innings with two sixes, setting the tone for the rest of the team. “The bowlers came to the party first… we had to take a little bit of risk to get a result,” Rohit shared with bcci.tv. “I know the result could have gone either way, but I was okay with it. So was the coach and the other players as well.”

Under Rohit’s leadership, India has adopted an aggressive mindset across formats, prioritizing winning at all costs. For Rohit, aggression is “all about actions,” whether it’s in batting, field positioning, or bowling. The captain also emphasized how crucial fielding was in the series, particularly slip catching, which helped turn the game in India’s favor.

India’s fielding efforts were lauded, with the team taking 23 out of 24 chances, an exceptional statistic in the usually difficult slip conditions in India. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sharp catches played a pivotal role in dismissing key Bangladesh players, such as Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam.

Rohit’s trust in his own judgement and experience has been key to his captaincy style. “Not every decision will go your way, but you have to back it and use your experience,” he said, noting that his confidence in his decisions, alongside input from teammates, is vital to India’s success.

India will look to carry this momentum forward as they continue their WTC campaign with their eyes set on winning the championship.
