BollywoodFever: Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has revealed that he will undergo surgery following his loss at UFC 306.
The 29-year-old fighter announced on a call with streamer Adin Ross that he suffered a torn labrum in his hip 10 weeks prior to his title bout against Merab Dvalishvili.

Despite the injury, O’Malley pushed through fight camp and competed in the event.
“I tore my left labrum in my hip,” O’Malley explained. “That’s the only reason I’m going to be out for so long. This surgery should only take two months to come back from, then a couple months of recovery. It could be six to eight months, you never know.”
O’Malley is scheduled for surgery in October and believes his absence will be felt in the UFC. “The UFC won’t be the same without me,” he said confidently.

Even though he was not fully healthy, O’Malley refused to blame the injury for his unanimous decision loss to Dvalishvili, which marked the end of his year-long title reign.
Speaking on his podcast, “The TimboSugarshow,” O’Malley stated, “Best weight cut, felt good, no excuses… I just got beat.”
As O’Malley recovers, he remains focused on making a full comeback and reclaiming his belt once he’s back in peak condition. Fans will be eagerly awaiting his return to the octagon in 2024.
