A highly anticipated sequel to the popular 2023 romantic comedy “Red, White & Royal Blue” is officially in the works at Amazon MGM Studios.
The film will see the return of stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez. Matthew López, who co-wrote and directed the original film, is set to return to write the screenplay alongside Casey McQuiston, the author of the best-selling novel that inspired the first film. The announcement was made by the cast and filmmakers following a special screening of the movie in Culver City, Calif.
The original film follows the story of Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), the First Son of the United States, and Prince Henry (Galitzine) of Wales, as they navigate their journey from bitter enemies to passionate lovers while keeping their relationship a secret from the public and the media. The film was a massive success, topping Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 movie list and generating significant buzz on social media.
While no plot details have been revealed yet, fans can expect to see some of the original cast members return, including Uma Thurman, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, and Stephen Fry. It is also unclear whether the sequel will premiere on streaming or receive a theatrical release.
