Slayer Reunion Confirmed for 2024 Louder Than Life and Riot Fest

Bollywoodfever, February 21: It’s surreal, but it’s happening. Slayer is making a comeback this year.

The iconic thrash metal band, known for their legendary farewell tour in 2019, has been announced as the headliners for both the 2024 Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, and Riot Fest in Chicago.

This news comes as a surprise on many fronts. Slayer bid farewell to fans in 2019, and there were no signs of a reunion in sight.

Even guitarist Kerry King, who recently launched his own post-Slayer solo project, expressed doubt about the band reuniting anytime soon.

However, plans have changed. Slayer will be taking the stage at Riot Fest on Sunday, September 22nd, and headlining day two of Louder Than Life on Friday, September 27th.

Reflecting on the upcoming performances, co-founder Tom Araya expressed his excitement, stating, “Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we’re on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans. And to be honest, we have missed that.”

Kerry King echoed the sentiment, acknowledging the significance of Slayer to their fans and expressing his anticipation for the reunion: “Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. Slayer means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them.”

The lineup for this reunion will feature the same configuration as the band’s farewell tour in 2019: co-founders Araya and King, guitarist Gary Holt (also of Exodus), and longtime drummer Paul Bostaph.
