Jenna Ortega Affirms Role as Lydia’s Daughter in ‘Beetlejuice 2’
Jenna Ortega reflected on the whirlwind experience of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” which catapulted her to global stardom in late 2022, leaving her emotionally overwhelmed.
It wasn’t until the SAG-AFTRA strike halted Hollywood production during her filming of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” sequel that she found a moment to gather herself and gain perspective.
Ortega expressed her enduring passion for acting, particularly reignited by her involvement in “Beetlejuice 2” (titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” by Warner Bros.), where she portrays Lydia Deetz’s daughter.
Joining returning stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara, Ortega teased the unique dynamics of her character, Astrid, and her relationship with Lydia.
She emphasized the importance of reintroducing the gothic aesthetics of the “Beetlejuice” franchise to younger audiences in 2024.
The actress highlighted the significance of embracing weird and offbeat narratives in today’s film landscape, noting the success of “Wednesday” and its ability to captivate a broad audience.
With the upcoming filming of “Wednesday” Season 2, Ortega anticipates each episode to stand out visually and thematically, akin to standalone movies.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is set to hit theaters on September 6th.
