TikTok Star AngryReactions to Resume Content Creation After Domestic Abuse Charges Dropped
Social media influencer Oneya Johnson, known for his reaction videos on his TikTok page “Angry Reactions,” was arrested for alleged domestic violence. Johnson, 25, was taken into custody in Burbank, Calif., on Feb. 12 at around 11 p.m., according to a Burbank Police Department report.
Johnson had allegedly been involved in a verbal argument that escalated to physical altercation with a woman in a hotel, as reported by TMZ, citing sources. Police informed the outlet that the woman did not require medical attention.
Johnson was released after posting a $50,000 bail and is due to appear in court on March 5, TMZ added.
Known for his viral videos where he reacts angrily while reviewing content across social media, Johnson has amassed over 27.7 million followers on TikTok and an additional two million on Instagram. The Chicago native began posting content to his “Angry Reactions” TikTok page in 2020, rapidly rising to fame.
A notable post from that year, in which he dueted with cake-making influencer @bobbysrey, received over 12 million likes and has been viewed over 60 million times. Buzzfeed News reported that Johnson accumulated one million TikTok followers in about 24 hours following that post.
Before his rise to fame, Johnson was homeless in Indiana when he created his first video. He told Buzzfeed, “I basically took how the world sees me and made it my online personality. If I passed you on the street and I don’t say a word, I look like the angriest person in the world. But when you actually get to know me, I’m actually a really positive person.”
If proven guilty of the alleged domestic violence charges, Johnson could face up to two to five years in state prison or a year in county prison, along with a fine of up to $10,000, according to California State Law.
