A major fire occurred at a children’s hospital in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, resulting in the tragic death of seven newborns. The incident took place late Saturday night, with the Delhi Fire Services receiving a distress call at 11.32 pm. Responding swiftly, 16 fire tenders rushed to the scene.
Authorities managed to rescue 12 newborns from the first floor of the building, but unfortunately, seven of them succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. Presently, five children are under medical care at the hospital.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway. Legal action has been initiated against the hospital owner in connection with the incident.
Expressing his grief, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the incident as “heart-rending.” He assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and hold those responsible accountable.
In another unfortunate incident, three individuals lost their lives in a fire that broke out in a residential building in Krishna Nagar, Delhi, early Sunday morning. The fire was reported at 2.35 am, and it was brought under control by 7.20 am, according to Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg. Thirteen people were rescued from the building, but sadly, three could not be saved.
