Tyra Banks Tries Alcohol for the First Time as an Adult on Her 50th Birthday

Tyra Banks recently had her first alcoholic drink as an adult to celebrate her 50th birthday, but it seems she won’t be indulging again anytime soon. The supermodel wanted to be her authentic self as she marked the milestone in December and tried new things. She enjoyed a seaplane adventure with her mom and best friend in Australia, where they shared a meal and a drink, according to a recent interview with People.

However, Tyra didn’t seem to enjoy the experience, as she found the drink “nasty” and concluded that it “wasn’t worth it.” Known for her sober lifestyle, Tyra has avoided drugs and alcohol throughout her career and seems to be continuing that path at 50.

While Tyra mentioned tasting alcohol at 12, she hadn’t consumed any since then until this recent occasion. Reflecting on turning 50, Tyra expressed that it’s different from what she had imagined, saying, “I thought I would have little glasses and just have a quilt on my lap and watch soap operas all day. I was wrong. What my life is like now is totally different than what I thought. I’m poppin’. I am not insecure about myself. It feels real good.”

Currently residing in Australia, Tyra lives with her boyfriend Louis Bélanger-Martin and their son York Banks Asla, born via surrogacy in 2016.
