Ukrainian shelling in Russia’s Belgorod region leaves five dead, while Russian forces strike a hotel in eastern Ukraine, injuring journalists and leaving one missing.
Bollywood Fever: Five people were killed in Ukrainian shelling in Russia’s Belgorod region on Sunday, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
The shelling occurred in the Russian village of Rakitone, 38 kilometers (23 miles) from the Ukrainian border, leaving twelve others wounded, including a 16-year-old girl in critical condition, according to regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Simultaneously, Russian forces launched an overnight strike on a hotel in Kramatorsk, located in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
The attack left two people injured and one trapped under the rubble. The victims were reported to be journalists from Ukraine, the U.S., and the U.K.
Reuters news agency confirmed that one of their journalists covering the war in Ukraine is missing, while two other team members were hospitalized after the Hotel Sapphire, where a six-person crew was staying, was hit by an apparent missile strike on Saturday.
The rest of the team has been accounted for, according to the agency.
In addition to the hotel, a nearby multistory building was also destroyed, and rescuers were actively clearing debris at the site, as reported by Donetsk regional Governor Vadym Filashkin.
Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region also experienced intense Russian shelling, resulting in multiple civilian injuries.
In Kharkiv’s Chuhuiv region, five people were injured, including a 4-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, after two houses were struck.
In Kharkiv city, a two-story house was set ablaze by a Russian attack, injuring eight people.
Further south in Balakliia, a Russian strike destroyed six houses and damaged others, injuring a 55-year-old man.
In the Kupiansk area, a house was set on fire by a Russian attack, wounding four women.
As the conflict continues, the toll on both sides is mounting, with civilians and journalists increasingly caught in the crossfire of the ongoing war.
