Criticism Arises Following Viral BBC BAFTAs Red Carpet Interview With Andrew Scott

Andrew Scott walked away from a red carpet interview with BBC News at the BAFTAs after being posed inappropriate questions about Saltburn star and BAFTA nominee Barry Keoghan.

Scott, who attended with his All of Us Strangers co-star Paul Mescal as the movie garnered six nominations, including outstanding British film, engaged in a chat with veteran BBC entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson.

However, instead of discussing the critically acclaimed queer drama, Paterson chose to inquire about Scott’s thoughts on Keoghan’s performance.

In the now-viral clip, the correspondent asked, “Do you know Barry well?” Scott, seemingly taken aback by the unexpected direction of the conversation, responded enthusiastically, “Yes! I know Barry, yeah!”

Paterson then delved into the uncomfortable territory by asking, “OK, your reaction when you first saw the naked dance scene at the end of Saltburn?” Scott uncomfortably laughed and replied, “It’s great, it’s great,” before adding, “I won’t spoil it for anybody.”

Despite Scott’s discomfort, Paterson persisted with questions about prosthetics, asking, “There was a lot of talk about prosthetics. How well do you know him?” Scott, smiling, waved off Paterson and departed from the interview.

The exchange sparked criticism on social media directed at Paterson for his choice of questions.

While Oppenheimer emerged as the big winner at the BAFTAs, securing seven awards including best film, All of Us Strangers and Saltburn were overlooked.
