American Tourist Feared Eaten by Shark During Diving Trip in Indonesia
Colleen Monfore, a 68-year-old diver from South Dakota, USA, is feared to have been devoured by a shark during a diving trip off Indonesia’s Pulau Reong Island. Authorities investigate after gruesome discovery.
BollywoodFever: In a tragic incident in Indonesia, a 68-year-old American tourist, Colleen Monfore, is feared to have been devoured by a shark while on a diving trip in the waters near Pulau Reong Island. Colleen, from South Dakota, was swept away by strong currents during a diving excursion with six companions off the coast of Indonesia’s Alor Archipelago. Despite the guide’s efforts, she was unable to return to the boat.

In a chilling development, reports from East Timor suggest that remains found inside a shark could be linked to the missing diver. A fisherman who discovered a woman’s remains inside a great white shark recounted the harrowing find: “The shark was cut open, and inside there were the remains of a woman.
Authorities in East Timor and Indonesia are now working together to investigate whether the remains belong to Colleen. Muhammad Saleh Goro, head of the UPTD for the Management of Alor Islands Marine Park, stated that the body was discovered in Timor Leste, and the victim was believed to be a foreign female diver based on the diving suit found. We are now investigating the case further to confirm if the remains are of anyone reported missing in Indonesia,” he said.

Local law enforcement confirmed that Colleen’s companions and nearby villagers initiated an immediate search when she went missing, using long boats and speed boats around Reong Island. However, no trace of her has been found.
Pulau Reong, part of Indonesia’s Alor Archipelago, is a popular destination for scuba diving enthusiasts, offering unique dive sites, pristine corals, and diverse marine life. The search for Colleen Monfore continues as authorities investigate the possibility of a connection to the shark discovery.
