Bollywood Fever: Cardiff City winger Ollie Tanner suffered a leg injury when an advertising hoarding collapsed on him during a goal celebration with fans in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Swansea City in the Championship.
The 22-year-old briefly left the field for treatment but was able to return to the match.
Assistant coach Omer Riza noted that additional security around the pitch might have prevented the incident by keeping fans away from the hoardings.

“That’s a heavy sign that fell down there, and Ollie’s got a big cut on his leg,” Riza commented. “He’s OK, he continued and carried on, but he had to go off the pitch for 30 seconds, and that could have hurt us during that period. All things we can look at to improve.”
Despite the injury, Tanner had a positive outlook on the incident, saying, “I’ll take it if it means we score a goal.”
This isn’t the first time such an incident has occurred recently. On Saturday, West Ham United players Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek had to assist a ball boy who was trapped under an advertising hoarding that collapsed during a goal celebration.
