Asmongold thinks Pokimane will be ‘better off’ on YouTube than Twitch
Pokimane, the popular streaming icon, bid farewell to Twitch and found a new home on YouTube, a decision applauded by fellow streamer Asmongold.
Pokimane cited various reasons for her departure, including Twitch’s failure to offer an exclusive contract and discontent with the platform’s controversial policies.
Asmongold, in discussing Pokimane’s move during a broadcast, expressed support for her choice to transition to YouTube. He highlighted her desire to expand beyond gaming into more mainstream content creation, noting her collaborations outside the gaming realm over the past years.
A key factor in Asmongold’s approval was the male-dominated nature of Twitch, making it challenging for female streamers to cultivate a diverse audience. In contrast, YouTube boasts a vibrant and expansive community beyond gaming, such as the drama-filled beauty community.
Asmongold shared anecdotes about the vast reach of YouTube, emphasizing the platform’s appeal to a broad audience. He asserted that Pokimane’s content, not tailored solely for a male demographic, would thrive on YouTube, where there’s less pressure to conform to certain appearances or behaviors.
While YouTube is now Pokimane’s primary platform, she hinted at potential streams on TikTok and Instagram. Notably, she ruled out using Kick due to its association with gambling websites and the risk of viewers being led into addictive behaviors.
