Jennifer Gates, the eldest daughter of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his ex-wife Melinda Gates, announced her pregnancy on Thursday. The 28-year-old debuted her baby bump in a maternity shoot photo on Instagram, featuring her 1-year-old daughter Leila.
“Leila, being promoted to big sister 💕,” Jennifer wrote, tagging her husband, Nayel Nassar, in the caption.
Melinda Gates, 59, expressed her excitement in the comments, saying, “I couldn’t be more excited for you, Nayel, and Leila! Love you ❤.”
Jennifer, born in 1996, is the first child of Bill and Melinda, who also have a son, Rory, 25, and another daughter, Phoebe, 21. Bill and Melinda were married for 27 years before announcing their separation in 2021, although Melinda recently revealed they had secretly split more than a year earlier.
In March 2023, Jennifer made Bill and Melinda grandparents for the first time with the birth of her daughter Leila. “Sending love from our healthy little family 💓🙏🥰,” she captioned Leila’s Instagram debut at the time.
Jennifer, who married Nassar in 2021, was a medical school student at the time and graduated in May, just after her daughter’s first birthday.
As for Jennifer’s siblings, Phoebe recently graduated with a degree in human biology from Stanford University. While documenting the experience with Nylon, she confirmed her relationship with Paul McCartney’s grandson, Arthur Donald. The couple first sparked romance rumors in October 2023 when Phoebe posted a photo with Donald during a trip to Paris.
Rory, who generally stays out of the public eye, recently attended a White House State Dinner with his mom.
