Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes avenged their previous year’s defeat by securing a spot in the Final Four for the second straight year, overcoming defending champions LSU in a thrilling rematch.Â
The No. 1 seed Hawkeyes showcased a remarkable performance, breaking away from No. 3 seed LSU in the third quarter and maintaining their lead to clinch a 94-87 victory.
Clark was the star of the show, delivering an outstanding 41 points, hitting 9-of-20 three-point attempts, and contributing 12 assists and seven rebounds.
This win held special significance as it came against Angel Reese and LSU, the team that had bested them in the last year’s national championship game with a score of 102-85, marking LSU’s first-ever title following an intense showdown between Clark and Reese.
The Hawkeyes now await their opponent for the national semifinals, set to be determined by the outcome of the Elite Eight match between JuJu Watkins’ No. 1 USC and Paige Bueckers’ No. 3 UConn, scheduled for Friday.
