Chris Wood’s Equalizer Lifts Nottingham Forest Out of Relegation Zone in Draw Against Crystal Palace
BollywoodFever, March 30: Chris Wood’s second-half goal secured a crucial point for Nottingham Forest in their fight against relegation, drawing 1-1 with Crystal Palace at home in Saturday’s Premier League match.
This draw lifted Forest from the relegation zone, positioning them in 17th place with eight matches remaining. The team’s recent four-point deduction for last season’s financial irregularities had dropped them into the bottom three, but they now sit level with Luton Town at 22 points, though ahead on goal difference after 30 games. Palace is currently 14th with 30 points from 29 games.

Forest supporters made their feelings known about the points deduction with pre-match banners proclaiming, “We shall fight and we shall overcome”.
Palace initially took the lead 11 minutes in, thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta’s header from an Eberechi Eze cross, marking Mateta’s fourth goal in seven matches. Eze was close to extending the lead before halftime, only to be thwarted by an impressive save from Forest’s Matz Sels.
The equalizer came in the 61st minute when Wood successfully headed in a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White, a goal that was confirmed following a VAR review for potential offside. Despite pulling even, Forest continued to press against Palace’s defense without managing to convert their efforts into a winning goal.
