Longtime friends Francia Raisa and Selena Gomez shared a deep bond, especially after Raisa selflessly donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017, helping her during a difficult time of lupus-related organ damage. However, their friendship faced challenges when Raisa took issue with a comment Gomez made about her only close industry friend, Taylor Swift, in a Rolling Stone cover story.
The drama unfolded when Raisa responded with an “Interesting” comment on an Instagram post resharing Gomez’s quote about not feeling like she fit in with other celebrity girls except for Swift. This led to online backlash, with Raisa no longer following Gomez on Instagram.
In May, Raisa expressed her distress over the online bullying she received since the incident, stating that no one condones bullying, especially not Selena, who is actively involved in mental health advocacy through her nonprofit Rare Impact Fund and Rare Beauty.
Despite the past tensions, Gomez posted a sweet birthday message for Raisa on her 35th birthday, signaling a potential step towards mending their friendship. As of now, Raisa has yet to acknowledge the birthday post but seemed to enjoy her special day in a poolside cabana, sharing celebratory pictures on her Instagram.
