Several crew members were injured during a mishap on the set of Eddie Murphy’s latest film, confirmed by Amazon MGM Studios.
The incident occurred while filming an action sequence for the movie titled “The Pickup.” An Amazon MGM spokesperson elaborated, “Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several members of the crew were injured as a result.”
The studio is currently investigating the cause of the incident and is in the process of gathering more information. No further details were provided at this time.
“The Pickup” features a cast including Murphy, Pete Davidson, and Keke Palmer, and the incident specifically impacted the film’s second unit. This term refers to a separate team that handles filming away from the main production, often responsible for capturing stunt sequences and other hazardous scenes without the principal actors.
The studio assured that the sequence had been thoroughly rehearsed with all necessary safety precautions in place, monitored closely throughout the shoot.
Despite the accident, filming continued for the main unit, as reported by Deadline. The movie, which Murphy is also producing, was not significantly set back by the events.
“The wellbeing of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest industry standards of safety while filming,” the studio stated.
The filming incident took place on a set in Atlanta, Georgia. Murphy, now in his sixties, continues to experience a career resurgence, appearing in several new films including the Amazon MGM-produced Christmas movie “Candy Cane Lane.”
Murphy is also set to reprise his iconic role as Detroit police officer Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” the fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop series, set for release this year on Netflix.
