Jennifer Lopez Teases Retirement from Music Following Release of Upcoming Album ‘This Is Me… Now’
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in an interview released on February 11, she confessed, “The truth is I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this.” Lopez described the project as quintessentially “Jennifer Lopez” and expressed a sense of fulfillment, suggesting that her future albums could become collector’s items. She playfully added, “Don’t tell Benny [Medina, her manager] that that’s what I’m thinking — this might be my last album ever.
Despite alluding to retirement, Lopez emphasized the significance of her new album, set to be released on February 16. She revealed efforts to create a special album cover for her fans, aiming for collectible items that they could cherish indefinitely.
While hinting at the conclusion of her recording career, Lopez left the door open for a possible return, stating, “I feel like it’s the end of a kind of an era for me and the beginning of a new one, so I would never say never.” She acknowledged the emotional investment in her latest project, expressing excitement while acknowledging the toll it took on her.
Jennifer’s forthcoming album arrives over two decades after her 2002 release, “This Is Me… Then,” inspired by her romance with Ben Affleck.
Their relationship has since undergone twists and turns, including breakups, marriages to other partners, and a surprise reunion leading to marriage in July 2022. Lopez’s new album coincides with her role in the musical Prime Video film, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” adding depth to her creative endeavors.
Reflecting on her journey, Lopez remarked, “I was very inspired to make the music at this point in my life with all of the amazing things that have happened to me in the past couple of years.”
This sentiment underscores the personal significance of her latest artistic endeavors.
